The final scene of FLIEGENDE HOLLANDER from the Metropolitan Opera performance of February 12th, 1970. This was Leonie's penultimate Senta at The Met, though of course at the time we did not know this. Thomas Stewart sang the Dutchman and Robert Nagy sang Erik. The conductor was Karl Böhm.
Rysanek struggled a bit with the arduous tessitura of the Senta-Dutchman duet in Act II, but in the opera's final scene, she was blazing away.
