Seinemeyer and Pattiera formed an enormously popular onstage partnership at Dresden during the 1920s. They appeared together in FORZA DEL DESTINO and DON CARLO, and on January 31, 1925, they sang the roles of Maddalena and Chenier in the Dresden premiere of Umberto Giordano's ANDREA CHENIER. The composer was in the audience, and praised their interpretations.
Mme. Seinemeyer was much admired for her Wagner roles - Elsa, Eva, Elisabeth, and Sieglinde - which she sang at Buenos Aires, Vienna, and at Covent Garden. Her career was cut short when she died of leukemia in 1929 at age 34.
Pattiera, who began his singing career in operetta and later specialized in the Italian repertoire, eventually took on heavier roles like Tannhauser and Bacchus in ARIADNE AUF NAXOS. He appeared with the Chicago Lyric Opera in 1920-1921. After retiring in 1953, Pattiera taught at Vienna. He passed away in in 1966.
