The name Anton Krajnc (photo, above) was unknown to me until a few days ago when, while watching a documentary about della Francesca's immortal painting The Resurrection, mention was made of Krajnc's "homage" to the Italian masterwork in a mural he painted for the chapel at Castle Bernau in Austria.

Aside from painting, Krajnc also works in bronze, clay, and porcelain. Whatever the medium, his style is unique in its mixing of illusion and reality: "...a symbolic link between what is and what seems."
