Sara Scuderi sings "Vissi d'arte" from TOSCA. This is one of the finest interpretations of this classic aria that I've ever heard.
Scuderi is among the singers interviewed by Lanfranco Rasponi for his book THE LAST PRIMA DONNAS. The diva, who spent her last years at Verdi's Casa di Riposo in Milan, was seemingly all-but-forgotten when she was featured in a 1984 documentary about the rest home for aging musicians, TOSCA'S KISS, and became once again a beloved celebrity in the opera world. The DVD of the film seems to be out-of-print, but the incredible scene of Scuderi re-enacting the murder of Scarpia with baritone Salvatore Locapo is on YouTube.
