Saturday April 5, 2014 - TAKE Dance will be at the Galapagos Arts Space in Brooklyn on Thursday April 10th, 2014, performing Take's SOMEWHERE FAMILIAR MELODIES as well as new works choreographed by Company members Kile Hotchkiss and Brynt Beitman.
Since I had a prior commitment on the evening of the performance, Take invited me to a rehearsal this evening at the Gibney Dance Center. It was a good opportunity to catch up with Take and with Jill Echo, and to see Take's dancers who are some of my favorite faces, forms and personalities on the Gotham dance scene.
Kile and Brynt have created intimate works in which the choreography is developed around the individuality of their fellow dancers; Take's SOMEWHERE FAMILIAR MELODIES is an ensemble work in several sections, seemingly unrelated vignettes inspired by the flow of the songs that Take has chosen.
