Oh, was there an opera on the stage? All I saw were the two heads attached at the lips. Actually, it was kind of sweet. Especially because they did take breaks to applaud.

I concur with your review! The singing was very strong, and frequently glorious. Last time we heard Zajick was as Amneris and she was sleepwalking through that. Last night she was blasting on all cylinders. I didn't love the staging. Some of it was hockey - as you point out, Leonora spends too much time rolling around on the floor. Then I was amused by how Manrico walks away from her as she lays there dying in the final scene. Then again, I suppose he was not raised a gentleman.


i am glad you say that Dmitri sang well. I hope he is healthy tomorrow:-)
I heard his Il balen on the 27.th April online from the MET and that was enchanting. i cant wait to see it live in hd. he and SOndra Radvanovsky are my favourite singers as well.
