Thursday November 18, 2010 - This afternoon I went down to the Battery Dance studio to watch choreographer John-Mark Owen's rehearsal for a work-in-progress, SALVE, part of which will be shown tomorrow (Friday November 19 at noon) at the 92nd Street Y. The performance is free. Above: John-Mark at Lincoln Center, from Jordan Matter's fantastic photo-series Dancers Among Us.
Three dancers are involved in John-Mark's piece: Kerry Shea (who I've known from her work with Lydia Johnson Dance), Selena Chau and Josh Christopher. With the showing 24 hours away, they were putting finishing touches on the segments of the piece to be presented.
I took some pictures with my Lumix and they sort of show the atmosphere of the work but I still cannot capture the body in motion very well.
