On Thursday and Friday October 14th and 15th, TAKE Dance and the composers and musicians of PULSE will present THE DISTANCE OF THE MOON at Judson Memorial Church on Washington Square. Four choreographers and six composers combine talents to produce six premiering new dances. Above: Mariko Kurihara and Jake Warren.
TAKE Dance founder and artistic director Takehiro Ueyama (above, with dancer Gina Ianni) and assistant director Jill Echo have each choreographed two pieces; Julie Tice, formerly of Paul Taylor Dance Company, makes her choreographic debut as does TAKE Dance's Kile Hotchkiss.
Kokyat and I recently stopped by a rehearsal for the production at which the musicians were present. Kokyat took all the photos in this article at that rehearsal.

Choreographers confer: Jill Echo, Julie Tice and Takehiro Ueyama. Julie's work was the one thing we didn't get a sneak peek at during the rehearsal, so that's something to look forward to in the performances.
Costume fitting for Kile's work: Elise Drew, Kile Hotchkiss, Kristen Arnold and designer Marquet K Lee.
