Taking our cue from Evan, Kokyat and I were down in the West Village on Saturday to check out the High Line, a new public area developed on the abandoned tracks of a stretch of overhead railway. Integrating contemporary design elements with a feeling of untamed gardens, the High Line offers panoramic views of the Village and the Jersey skyline.
On a magnificent summer Saturday, the place was jammed with visitors but I can well imagine that, after the initial curiosity has worn off a bit, the High Line will be a very restful place to visit. I cropped the people out of the above photo to give an idea of how the flora look in an urban setting.
Overgrown track bed.
Looking down on one of the outdoor eateries.
They named a company after me!
After we had big juicy burgers at The Diner (make mine bloody-rare!) and a walk along the River, Kokyat decided he liked The High Line so much that he went back to take more photos while I headed home to Inwood.
It's a gorgeous and cool place. I was there a few weeks ago. Beautiful photos!

Lovely photos! I headed back today for some more exploring and sunshine. I'm sure it will be less crowded by the fall.
