« Tucker Gala 2008 | Main | BALLO/FLAMES/ Kylian/Tharp: ABT »

How lucky you are to have seen Gelsey Kirkland perform live back in her prime! I've only seen videos but she was an absolutely gorgeous dancer - light as a reed and strong as nails! You are very lucky.

Yes, her performances were remarkable. I especially recall her dazzling Swanhilda and her pure perfection as Giselle.

Thanks for all this background info, Philip! It's so interesting!
I'm seeing these two ballets on Sunday. I saw ABT do "Ballo" last year too, and, of course, I know it well from NYCB. I was also lucky enough to see Gelsey when she was in her prime. Looking forward to reading your piece tomorrow about ABT's performance tonight. I'm seeing "Billy Elliot" tonight. I can't wait to see Stephen Hanna
as the older Billy.
