This Lois Greenfield photograph from MORPHOSES: THE WHEELDON COMPANY will give you an idea of why I'm so impatient for October 17 to get here. That's the opening night of their City Center season here in New York. It's been a long time coming {or is it just that I'm so anxious?}; I remember when the formation of MORPHOSES was first announced and how far away the projected first performances seemed. Now it's a reality. The photo shows NYC Ballet soloist Craig Hall and soon-to-be NYC Ballet principal Gonzalo Garcia. They are among the exciting roster of dancers Christoper has assembled for the Company's New York debut season.
UPDATE: A few changes in the originally announced rep and casting: DANCE OF THE HOURS from the opera LA GIOCONDA which Christopher originally created for the Met last season has been added to the first programme and headlines Ashley Bouder & Gonzalo Garcia (in the photo here from the Met staging, Angel Corella & Letizia Giuliani are shown). Johan Kobborg appears to have dropped out and Alina Cojocaru will be partnered by Nehemiah Kish in the PROKOFIEV PAS DE DEUX. In the second programme, Aesha Ash replaces Ashley Bouder in the SLINGERLANDS PAS DE DEUX.
So excited!!!! Just one week!
I'm also going to try and leave work early Friday and make it to the rehearsal that was posted in the NYTimes.
