« Greek Trilogy | Main | Essential Balanchine »

Yes, Tiler Peck is such a brilliant technician that one is tempted to pigeonhole her that way but I do agree that she is a truly special young ballerina - a genuine artist in the making - and she has the potential to become one of the real "greats" at NYCB. I first saw her in one of Suki Schorer's advanced women's classes at SAB and couldn't take my eyes off of her throughout the entire class. There were many very fine young dancers in that class but Tiler was the one who really stood out. Then I saw her in her SAB Workshop Performance and she was dazzling in both Serenade and Union Jack - without question, the star of the show. So the talent was there from the beginning and now she seems committed to developing it to the fullest. Yes, it is sad that Kyra will be leaving us this year and Darci will probably also be retiring in a few years - we will miss them very, very much. But the future is still bright because oh, what a marvelous group of young ballerinas we now have in the company at all three levels - principal, soloist and corps.

Fionnula is divine!! She's an old friend of Symphony Space and does an AMAZING reading of Molly Bloom's soliloquy from Ulysses at the annual Bloomsday on Broadway celebration on June 16 (http://www.symphonyspace.org/genres/eventPage.php?genreId=8&eventId=1776)
