It's been a great Australian Open for the Chilean tennis player Fernando Gonzalez. He marched thru a tough draw and now stands to face Roger Federer in the final. Gonzalez is a player with a lively, relentless game who goes after everything and plays with enormous heart. He never gives up. Last Summer at the US Open I could not even get near his match, the crowds were falling out of the court and the line to get in stretched down the walkway endlessly. He had the fans in a frenzy with his daring style; I stood outside the court listening to them and wishing I was inside.
I expect Gonzalez, with his big Spanish eyes and endearing smile, to give Fedi a run for his money in the final. Vamos Gonzo!
This Summer I'll know for sure to find the Gonzalez court early and get a seat.

UPDATE: Federer won, which comes as no surprise. But Gonzalez put more heat on Fedi than Roddick managed to do in the semis. I think Gonzo has a Slam title in him although with Fedi totally dominating the scene right now it is not going to be easy for anyone else to hoist a winner's trophy in the foreseeable future. Except - maybe - in Paris.
