INTERMEZZO is a new ballet company founded by ABT soloist Craig Salstein (above, portrait by A Cappella Pictures).
INTERMEZZO will give their premiere performances at the 92nd Street Y in October 2013 with a programme celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Giuseppe Verdi. For their debut offering, the Company will perform new ballets set to Verdi's String Quartet in E-minor (the composer's only surviving chamber work, written in 1873) and to a specially arranged suite of music from the Master's tuneful and dramatic opera UN BALLO IN MASCHERA (A Masked Ball).
Both scores will be performed live, and danced by an ensemble which will include some familiar names from the New York dance world. Participating choreographers for the Verdi programme will include Lisa de Ribere (who formerly danced with New York City Ballet and with ABT), Gemma Bond (corps de ballet, ABT), Marcelo Gomes (principal, ABT) and Adam Hendrickson (formerly a soloist at New York City Ballet).

An INTERMEZZO website and Facebook page are in the works. The 92nd Street Y performances will be the first in a series of projects, some of which will undoubtedly draw upon Craig Salstein's passion for opera.
