This Week: San Francisco Ballet @ City Center
New York City Center is having a grand line-up of dance performances this season, starting with their Fall for Dance series which was followed by MORPHOSES. In a perfect segue, a Christopher Wheeldon ballet is featured on the opening night programme of the visiting San Francisco Ballet which opens Friday October 10. Then come ABT, Lubovitch, Ailey, Miami City Ballet, Paul Taylor - a veritable embarrassment of riches. In an Erik Tomasson photo above: Helgi Tomasson's THE FIFTH SEASON is part of the SFB's City Center repertoire.
San Francisco Ballet's photographer Erik Tomasson is interviewed here, with more of his fantastic dance photography on display.
Former NYC Ballet principal Sofiane Sylve now dances with San Francisco Ballet and so do Seth Orza's brothers, Sean and Aaron.
JOYRIDE, a Mark Morris/John Adams ballet, will also be performed (Erik Tomasson photo)
After reading Jolene's detailed and photo-illustrated reviews of SFB's newest works at their San Francisco premieres on her site SATURDAY MATINEE, it will be wonderful to have the opportunity to see some of them here in New York City. Jolene's articles are here...here...here...here...and here. It's very worthwhile to follow those links and get a feeling for what we're about to see. And the photos are glorious: they truly make me anxious to see these works and dancers.

Oh cool! I was going to go in search of all of Jolene's posts in preparation but glad to see you've done it for me!
